Compete all work in a single Excel file.

Include all functions, calculations, & values required to answer the questions below in your Excel file. Report ALL values and numbers in APA format.

Label your work clearly.

A scale measuring perceived stress has a population mean of 25.41 and standard deviation of 7.57. You and 9 of other Brescia students complete the test. You and the other students obtain scores of 20, 25, 30, 32, 33, 38, 22, 26, 27, 35.

  1. Given the population values, what is the probability of a sample mean (n = 10) greater than the mean obtained by the group of you and the 9 other students? Report the test statistic and probability to 2 decimal places in your Excel file.
  2. You scored 22 on the test. Given the population values, what is the probability of a score less than 22? Report the test statistic and probability to 2 decimal places in your Excel file.

A psychologist is interested in whether levels of perceived stress in young mothers have increased significantly since the COVID-19 pandemic. She recruits a group of 9 young mothers and measures levels of perceived stress using the Life Experiences Survey. Here, higher scores represent more perceived stress. The data from these young mothers is as follows: 24, 25, 26, 21, 27, 19, 28, 23, 28

Levels of perceived stress in the general population before the pandemic, as measured by the Life Experiences Survey, were normally distributed with a mean of 19.78 and a standard deviation of 8.13.

  1. Perform a hypothesis test to determine if levels of perceived stress in young mothers are significantly higher than in the general population since the COVID-19 pandemic. Use an alpha level of α = .05. Type all steps of your hypothesis test in the submission box below. You can cut and paste from Word to make formatting easier. You will need to upload your Excel file with your statistics for this part in the next question.
  2. In Part A, did you use a one- or two-tailed test? Justify your answer. Type your responses in the submission box below
  3. In Part A, would you have made the same conclusion in your hypothesis test if you had investigated whether levels of perceived stress in young mothers were different than the general population since the COVID-19 pandemic? Explain your answer. Type your responses in the submission box below

Please upload the Excel file you used to complete Parts A and B of the previous question (hypothesis test).

Your Excel file needs to contain the statistical analysis you used to complete the hypothesis test in Part A as well as the functions & values you calculated for Part B. Marks are awarded for these functions and values and are included in the marks for question.
